Road-Cycling World Championship (Ponferrada)
From 21st to 28th September, Ponferrada will be the venue of the Road-Cycling World Championship, where the best cyclists on the planet will meet. Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde, Chris Froome, Rui Faria and Nairo Quintana among other favourites will compete for the 12 World Championship tittles at stake. Two team time trials on Sunday 21st, five individual time trials on Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th and five long-distance trials on Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th are programmed. The time trial circuits will pass through La Vega and the surrounding areas of Ponferrada and the long-distance trials will pass through Barcena Reservoir.
