Military parades, the Roman Circus, ancestral characters and confrontations between Celts and Romans are waiting for you in an incomparable setting: the Roman Walls of Lugo. It was precisely during the year 2000, together with the nomination of the Roman Walls of Lugo as Unesco World Heritage, when the Arde Lucus started to be celebrated, with the aim of commemorating the foundation of the city as well as its Roman past.
During this celebration, the city, its inhabitants and visitors go back in time and they become completely Romans. The main acts take place in the most emblematic streets of the old part of town. Arde Lucus has become established in such a way that it’s a national reference, with significant media impact and number of visitors. On its tenth anniversary it has achieved the recognition as Galician Celebration of Tourist Interest.
