Festivity of the Pie of Bandeira (Silleda)
The Festivity of the Pie of Bandeira is a traditional festivity that exalts one of the most typical products in Galicia: the pie. Since the year 1974, the third weekend of August the neighbours of the town of Bandeira, which belongs to the council of Silleda, meet at Carballeira de Silva to spend a gastronomic day that will deal with this so representative product f Galician gastronomy. It has been declared Festivity of Tourist Interest of Galicia due to its uniqueness and cultural value, every year it meets next to 7000 people who want to have a good time and eat even better.
The main event is the pie competition in which the restaurants of the town and the housewives take part, establishing in this way these two categories. The competitors show their creations in order for an expert jury comprised of gastronomic critics and well-known restaurateurs to decide which is the winning pie. After this, everything will be festivity and fun. The delicious pies will be accompanied by bag-pipers and popular groups that will not leave until the early morning.
